What is Custom Picture Framing?
If it is important to create a unique look, match style to your interior finishes, protect and preserve your valuable art, or frame something that is not in a standard size, then custom framing is likely the best solution for your project. For larger sizes, it is often the only option.
Custom picture framing is a hand-crafted service. All work is conducted on-site in our studio. Work is “hands-on”, precise and designed to exactly meet your requirements.
What are “Ready-Mades”?
Ready-mades are normally produced overseas and offer excellent price-points, so long as you can find the exact size and style that works for your project. Custom framing fills in when “off-the-shelf” just won’t do.
What is the Design Process?
Good design based on commonly accepted framing principles results in a beautiful, well-balanced framing presentation that enhances the artwork without overpowering it.
The frame brings together the color, style and texture of the art with the interior design of the space. We provide complimentary design services at our studio. The process explores options suited to the artwork and using your understanding of style preferences and the intended location to place the piece, we help you find the right profile, matting, or other details of frame design.
What determines the total cost of the project?
There are a number of factors that combined determine the price of framing projects. The most important factors are listed below:
- Molding Selection (type and quality)
- Complexity of details. (matting, use of filets, fabric wrap matting, etc)
- Standard glass or acrylics glazing vs. UV radiation protective glass or acrylics
- Quantity ordered at one time – same size, same specifications
- Conservation / museum framing
How long will it take?
Our large inventory makes it possible to turn around most jobs in only a few days. Special orders, larger jobs or more complicated orders can take a bit longer. We strive for a 2-3 week turn around. We will give you our best estimate of completion dates at the time of your order. Rush service is available in the event that you require unusual turnaround.
